VERMONT COOKING ITINERARY…
4 Days 3 Nights
DAY ONE:
Arrive at the Cortina Inn and Resort around 5:00pm. You will be greeted by the Innkeeper and enjoy coffee, tea, cider and cookies during your orientation. At 6pm our Dining Room Manager or the Innkeeper will present a wine and cheese seminar and tasting in the Rutland Room. They will talk about and you will taste three wines from our extensive wine celler. You will learn about the origin and history of cheese making and you will taste some including the famous aged Vermont cheddar cheese.
7:00pm is the first seating for a delicious dinner in Oscars Grille tonight. No entertainment tonight but you have a chance to explore the Inn visit the Art Gallery or join friends in Theodore’s Tavern for good cheer and camaraderie.
DAY 2:
7-9:30am: Enjoy another Hearty Vermont Buffet Breakfast in Oscars Grille
9:15am: Today in the Rutland Room, Our talented Chefs will demonstrate omelet making, creating delicious desserts and bread baking.
11am: Arrival at the Mendon Mountain Orchards & Cider Mill for a tour of a small family-owned and operated “barn factory”. Learn how apples are sorted, washed, peeled, sliced and packed at one of Vermont’s oldest working orchards. Sample a free cup of fresh apple cider and enjoy an apple. The farm store features “the best” homemade apple pies that can be ordered fresh baked after the tour and picked up on your way home.
Lunch begins with a cooking demonstration on how to barbecue followed by a New England BBQ with ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob, etc.
After lunch you will have a free afternoon to relax and enjoy the beautiful grounds and amenities of the Inn. You can curl up with a good book from our library; treat yourself to a visit with our massage therapist ($30 for 1/2 hour Tour Special), swim in our heated pool, and work on one of our lobby puzzles or browse in our Art Gallery.
4:30pm: Cookie time again. We will be serving great tasting sweets and refreshments in the lobby.
6pm: It’s time for the wine and cheese seminar and tasting in the Rutland Room. Our Dining Room Manager to the Innkeeper will talk about and conduct a tasting of three wines from our extensive wine celler. He will tell you about the origin and history of cheese making and you will taste some including the famous aged Vermont cheddar cheese.
7pm: Full choice of menu dinner in Zola’s Grille (by individual reservation). After dinner you will go to the Pico Ballroom for tonight’s entertainment.
DAY 3:
7-9:30am: Your morning begins again with a Hearty Vermont Buffet Breakfast in Zola’s Grille.
9:30am Today you will travel north to the village of Shelburne and visit the world famous Vermont Teddy Bear Factory where you will see how these beautiful hand crafted bears are made. Be sure to visit the magical world of the teddy bear gift shop. Lunch today is a gourmet box lunch provided by Cortina Inn served in the Teddy Bear cafeteria. After lunch you will tour Green Mountain Chocolate Company and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, where you will experience the ultimate in chocolate prepared by a former White House pastry chef. There are over 100 varieties of handcrafted chocolates with no chemicals, stabilizers or preservatives. Enjoy a cup of cappuccino, espresso or one of 40 flavors of coffee as you savor the chocolate of the day. This day’s tour concludes with tour of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory and a sample of their world famous ice cream.
5:30PM: Tonight our chefs will demonstrate how to prepare hors d’ oeuvres for your next party in Theodore’s Tavern and you get to try them when they are fresh and hot. Our barmen will prepare your favorite libation at a cash bar.
6:00 PM: Another full choice of menu dinner in Zola’s Grille awaits you.
After dinner you will go to the Pico Ballroom for tonight’s entertainment.
DAY 4:
7-9:30am: Your morning begins again with a Hearty Vermont Buffet Breakfast in Zola’s Grille. After breakfast you will depart for home. The Innkeeper will have a treat for the way home and a momento for you to remember your time at Cortina Inn and Resort. Don’t forget to stop at the Mendon Mountain Orchard Store and pick up your fresh baked apple pie.
