“Hookers For a Day” (or two)

Vermont Rug Hooking Tour Itinerary

Available November 10- 18, 2007

3 days/2 nights

 

Nov., 2006 - Day 1

 

4:00pm:  Arrival at Cortina Inn and Resort with a greeting from management. Zola’s hostess will be on hand to take individual dinner reservation.

 

4:30-5:30pm: Complimentary tea/coffee and tasty Vermont baked treats are served – a Cortina tradition.

 

5:30pm: Wine & Cheese tasting and seminar. Our Innkeeper or Dining Room Manager will present a wine and cheese seminar and tasting in the Rutland Room. He will talk about and you will taste three wines from our extensive wine cellar. You will learn about and you will taste 3 kinds of cheese including the famous aged Vermont cheddar cheese.

 

7:00pm: Full choice of menu dinner in Zola’s Grille (by individual reservation).

 

8:00pm on: A lecture and presentation on “hooking” will be given by a local Vermont “hooker”.

 

Nov., 2006 - Day 2

 

7:00am: Enjoy a Hearty Vermont Buffet Breakfast in Zola’s Grille.

 

9:00am: Depart for the day at the “Hooked in the Mountains XII” 

 

10:30am: Arrive a Vermont Teddy Bear Factory for a tour. See how Teddy Bears are made by people who love teddy bears. Have them make a special bear just for you. 

 

12:00pm: Lunch on your own. To be determined.

 

1:30pm: Arrive at Shelburne Museum for “Hooked in the Mountains XII”. You can see over 400 contemporary hooked rugs on view in the Museum’s 3-level Round Barn Welcome Center.

There are sales of rug hooking materials, speakers, and presentations.

 

3:30pm: Depart for the Cortina Inn.

 

5:00pm: Cookie time. We will be serving home baked Vermont Teddy Bear treats and refreshments.

 

5:30pm: Full choice of menu dining in Zola’s Grille – by individual reservations.

 

8:30pm: Entertainment in the Pico Ballroom (optional at $300 per show)

 

Nov., 2006 - Day 3

 

7:00am: Enjoy a hearty Vermont buffet breakfast in Zola’s Grille.

 

9:00am: Depart for home with a treat for the road and fond memories of the Cortina Inn & Resort and Vermont.

 

 

 

9:15am: Stop at Mendon Mountain Orchards & Cider Mill on your way home. See how apples are sorted, peeled, sliced, packed, and made into cider. Sample some home made cider and an apple.

 

Rates include 2 nights lodging, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, wine & cheese tasting and seminar,  admission to Hooked in the Mountains and all attractions, portage in and out, all taxes and gratuities.

Nov., 2007 – Day 3

 

7:00am: Enjoy our hearty Vermont Buffet Breakfast in Zola’s Grille.

 

8:30am: Depart for a day of touring with a local step on guide. Times to be determined.

 

Arrive in Barre, VT for a tour of the Rock of Ages Granite Quarry. Their guide steps aboard your motorcoach and escorts your group to an active 50 acre, 600 ft. deep quarry. Visit the Craftsmen center and see artists sculpt, finish, cut, and polish the stone. At the Visitor’s Center you’ll see many exhibits and find granite gifts. 

 

Next it’s on to the Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks. The Morse Family eight generation maple experience is shown via colorful video and live presentations in the farm’s Woodshed Theater. An outdoor museum and folklife dioramas depict early farm life in Vermont. The gift shop features Vermont food products and crafts.

 

Vermont’s Capitol City of Montpelier – one of the smallest capitol cities in the US – is your next stop. You will have time for lunch on your own in the busy downtown and for photos of the gold domed capitol building.

 

After lunch and sightseeing it’s off to the Cabot Cheese Annex and Lake Champlain Chocolates for some sampling, browsing and shopping for Vermont’s most famous cheese – Cabot Cheddar.  
 
 
 
 

 

4:30pm: Arrive back at the Cortina Inn & Resort in time for baked treats, coffee and tea.
